  1. You want to know, why China is so lauded as green? Because they indeed do the most for environmentalism. Problem is the scope. They do deploy in absolute terms huge amounts of wind and solar, but also do this coal plant shit. Institutions then ignore relative deployment in terms of new kWh, but only look at the green absolute amount, and say shit like this (basically selective blindness). There is also the fact, that China does almost all material processing for green stuff. You need magnets for wind farms? Yep, those magnets were manufactured in China, even though mined in Australia. Need copper wiring? Large scale smelting is done only in China. Need very simplistic microchips for a simple sensor or a smart fridge? Yep, that's done mostly in China as well. Why? Because to make this stuff efficiently enough for it to be cheap, you need the ability to pollute without limits. This material processing simply can't be done cleanly, if it's meant to also be cheap. As a result, they literally get green praise for literally polluting the planet.
