This happened to me once. We flew from Brno (BRQ) to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) via Prague (PRG). We arrived at Prague about half an hour late, but then we've managed to catch up so much, we've arrived hour early. There was no ground crew to greet us (because both airline and travel agency folded), I was too young to speak any English at the time, the only person, who spoke any foreign language refused to speak at all. Fortunately, we've managed to get in to a taxi with some Germans, who went to the same town we were supposed to go to and, luck would have it, our hotel wasn't far from theirs. Only the next day, our guide, who was supposed to meet us upon landing, showed up, saying, it never ever happened in twenty years of his experience, for a plane to arrive an hour early. It was adventureous night...

Yeah, something, all be it less crazy, happened to me once. I was in the back with my dad, my mom was in copilot's seat. So we were on a sightseeing flight and the pilot suddenly asks mom, "would you like to try it?" And mom said, "no, thank you.", and the pilot responded with "but now you'll have to.", released the yoke, put his feet of pedals and put his hands behind his seat... Yeah, we dropped about a hundred feet, but mom recovered the plane...

Ah, yess... There are not "insert position". There are not enough smart guys, who would be willing to obtain education on par with a proper degree, have both mathematical and interpersonal skills to handle a plane in crisis, as planes are getting more and more complex and more and more gadgets make "safer" and more cost effective... There are very few people in the world, who can handle this level of job requirements. Plus, there is the little issue of money, as mentioned in the video. Something is gonna have to give, there is no other way about it. What can give? Safety in terms of equipment, training or Prices. Guess which will go first... The way I see it, there is only one thing, which can help get more pilots, is lowering requirements, not just paying the flight lessons and pilots moving from smaller to bigger planes needs to be accelerated. Yes, safety is gona tank. No, there are not enough eligable people out there, given current requirements.
