How does the head of the military, whose forces are the only ones conditioned and designed to conduct warfare (per Kryptonian gene castes) and who, presumably, commands their respect and allegiance, lose to combat-ineffective bureaucrats and their miniscule security details? I loved this movie but, his capture and imprisonment made no sense, nor Krypton's abandonment of interstellar civilization and its seeming contentedness to go gentle into the cold night of oblivion.
