  1. This wasn't about guns; it was about "protecting the vulnerable [XX] persons". These people believe, erroneously, that such persons are the supermajority of Domestic Ab*** victims (men actually are, they just don't report it because it's shamed "You let a little lady beat you up?") so, by giving courts (and by extension, [XX]) that power, they're "punching up". If you don't consider the gender dynamics, these intuitions elude you; we're not a world of individuals, we're a world of groups and genders are the biggest subgroups and they ARE at war.
