Years and years ago when I was dating a high school senior as a working but directionless 19 year old, I found myself in the pathetic position of negotiating for a single ROOM of our future, hypothetical house before the two of us were even ENGAGED (we Mormons move fast). Fortunately, I broke things off and am devoting my life to career/academic advancement and self-improvement but...by the Gods, do I resent my past self for being so freaking weak. I've since adopted a more "medieval & patriarchal" mindset, and I've never been happier.
