You're right! Defunding the police means just that's.
DEFUNDING
THE
POLICE DEPARTMENTS, OTHERWISE, they would say things like, "other areas need more funding: DSHS, mental health, and the like," while still talking about the importance of police funding.
Also, it's not IRONIC, that this whole "defund the police" movement, comes during all this "Black Lives Matter Inc," stuff. They go hand in hand, and the Democrats want to pander to certain people, because that's how they get votes.
They instill fear, incite violence, and do whatever they can, to work with their emotions... Emotions get people excited, whether in a good way or not.
Just take Ayanna Pressley and Maxine Waters, and what they say about taking to the streets, creating chaos, going up to Republicans in restaurants, etc.
You don't hear Republicans telling people to do those things...
And if the MSM tries to say that, they only take snippets from clips, omitting the actual facts, and leaving it up to the people to fact check things, by trying to find the full clip, which then Google, Facebook, YouTube and the like, make difficult to search for. It's crazy what's going on right now.
DEFUNDING the police, IN ANY WAY, WILL BE detrimental to the entire United States' safety, plain and simple. Officers already don't get paid enough.

That's why their needs to be more funding, more training, etc. Sure, go ahead and add funding to places like DSHS, and CPS also, but that's not going to help. They aren't going to be trained and able to deal with people who are suicidal and DON'T care about anybody else they harm (taking hostages). You seem to forget that officers DO go through training for working with people who are mentally unstable. And the "training" doesn't just stop after they finish the academy.
Next, would you put your life on the line every single day for say $60k a year, on average? Would you want to see what they see? Dead children, decapitated babies, sexual assault victims, Murder victims, suicide victims, car accident victims, and everything else officers see?
No... My Sweetie has been on the force for over 25 years, works as a Sergeant, and WITH overtime, he makes right around $100k/yr.
Is it worth it? I don't think so. Not when you could be killed every single day. And THAT'S after doing it for over 25 years. Officers DON'T get paid enough, and if you're expecting them to get paid less, AND get treated like shit, the good ones are going to quit, which is already happening.
My Sweetie was going to retire out (he loves his job and takes his oath seriously), but with EVERYTHING that's going on, he's decided that he most likely won't.
So what's going to happen then...?
The officers who are well trained, have many years under their belts, have received training every year, and in most circumstances even quarterly, etc., are going to quit and the force is going to be full of green peas who DON'T have the experience, and THAT will be extremely detrimental to the entire population.

Seriously?
You know an article is going to get bias when a pop up to donate to BLM pops up...
I live in WA state, and I can tell you that defunding the police, which is what's happening, ISN'T a good thing...
They are cutting officers' pay, and if you know anything about what they make, it's NOT much, considering what they do. Heck, they were going to cut the Seattle Police Chief's pay by 1/3, but then she decided to retire early...
How do you think that defunding the police, and ALSO, CUTTING THEIR PAY, is going to help what's going on??? If anything, the police departments need more money, so they can have MORE TRAINING, MORE BODYCAMS, and MORE EQUIPMENT, to keep EVERYBODY SAFER!
You CANNOT defund the police department, when they ALREADY don't have the funding for everything they need. It makes ZERO sense...

@mckinleywebb5910 If you want change with officers, you implement more training, more items (Bodycams, car cams, etc.), Etc., You don't DEFUND them, taking away pay, training, items, etc.
That DOESN'T help.
As it stands, many departments STILL don't have Bodycams, because they don't have enough funding for things... Making it even less, will only hurt things in the end.

First off, Politifact lies all the time and twists things. They are comparing what WAS allocated in 2020, with what was discussed For 2021. In many cases, what they talk about allocating, usually goes up, depending on what's going on.
So... The REAL question, is WHAT did the Trump administration want to originally allocate for funding in 2020, and how did THAT number change?
I would bet that it was ACTUALLY less than what they are talking about for 2021 (and that's why the numbers for 2021 seem so much less), but that when it came down to funding, they increased it for 2020.
This happens all the time.
Also, Biden has not only a track record of talking about defunding the police (prior to his interview), but ALSO actually doing it, during his term with Obama. He's done the same thing with fossil fuel and saying he would get rid of it... "Phase it out," to now saying he doesn't want to do that.
Biden changes his narrative to whatever the polls reflect. Until the polls started showing a shift, he was for getting rid of fossil fuels. Now that many people have commented about that, he's tried to change his tune, when he's asked.

With the Left having financial help for "single" mothers and not pushing for keeping the nuclear family together, (just like what BLM Inc. is doing with the destruction of the nuclear family), this not only keeps them dependent on the Government, but it also increases the chances of their children not graduating, ending up doing crimes, and in turn, in jail/the system.
Also, because of the lower rate of education/HS graduation/college, it keeps the children in the same cycle.
Studies show that having children out of wedlock, and at a lower age, will more often than not, put their children in the same boat.
Ex: young Mom's tend to have children who become young, single Moms as well... Then the cycle keeps repeating itself.
You can actually see this in history, because before the welfare programs came to fruition, the African American Population had a higher percentage of marriages/less Divorce, higher income, and less single Mothers.
It wasn't until the Government stepped in, that the numbers changed... Less marriages among African Americans, more single Mothers, lower income, etc. etc.
