That's who Narcissists and Sociopaths target...
If you look into people like that, they all have very similar "traits" .
My daughter's father was exactly like this. After speaking with my ex's ex-wife (who I now consider a very good friend, because we can relate, having gone through the exact same abuse), I found out that he did the same thing with her. He went after me, after my divorce, and he went after her, while she was in a bad relationship.
They like to be the "Night in Shining Armor," and things like that. It's creepy how manipulative they are.
They come in and build you up in such an amazing fashion, that when they start to break you down, they know you in such a deep way, that they know exactly how to get to you.
It's horrible what somebody like this can do to you, if you get stuck...
Thank God, I didn't end up with somebody like Chad. I only have a DVPO now, because of my ex. It could be worse, but thankfully it's not.

I have to say that I personally think that your comment is really cruel. I have friends who are in the LDS church and they are the kindest people. They work extremely hard and will have your back in a heartbeat.
The parents raise them to be respectful, kind, caring, compassionate people. One of my best friends growing up, was/is a member of the LDS church. Things aren't as different as many would think.
I wasn't ever in that church (I was raised Catholic), but since I grew up close to families who were, I could see what they were like, and most families are NOT like you're stereotyping them to be.
You need to remember that there are always going to be outliers with ANY group of people- religion, job, etc., That doesn't mean that MOST people in that group are like that.
Please try to remember that.
