What do you mean go back?
This happened before he went back to FL.
Also, wasn't Gabby not seen or heard from around the same time? Aug 18th? Not to mention there's the girl (and her boyfriend), who actually picked up Brian hitchhiking and drove him a ways. Evidently he offered to pay them $200 to only go a short distance. Then he freaked out when he mentioned where he wanted to go, and they gave the full name of the place he wanted to go. He demanded to get out and find another ride.
Why??? That's weird!
It also really makes me wonder why he was hitchhiking, why he was willing to pay so much money (when they didn't have much money to stay in a hotel, when they had the interaction with the police). Where was Gabby at that time? He told the couple that she was "supposedly" back at some campsite working on her Instagram stuff. I don't know about you, but as a female, I wouldn't want to be camping in the middle of nowhere, by myself. Brian told the couple that picked him up, that he had been camping for days, but they noticed that he only had a small backpack, and wasn't dirty, nor did he smell like he'd been out in nature for days camping. He also told them that all he had was a tarp to sleep on. That's just very odd!
I can't help but wonder if this couple witnessed something between Brian and Gabby and they were shot, so they couldn't talk.
Supposedly the police say the disappearance of Gabby and these murders AREN'T related, but... why would Brian go back to FL alone in GABBY'S VAN??? They were supposed to go to Oregon after being where they were in MOAB, and then work on a farm in Oregon in October. The plan WASN'T to go back to FL then... Let alone without Gabby.
I can't help but feel that Brian knows something. He WOULDN'T be hiding out, if things were "okay."
If Gabby was okay, he would say where she is, who she's with, and why he came back to FL ALONE. It might be one thing, if it was his vehicle, but knowing that it's her van, makes things that much more strange.
Sorry for such a long comment.

I wonder if the Police might be saying that, since they can't find Brian. I've been going through this in my head a lot and nothing makes sense. If Brian didn't do anything, why isn't he talking to Police? Why did he run? Why did he go back to FL in GABBY'S VAN, without Gabby? Retaining an attorney does make him look guilty, but...I can actually get past that, if there was an accident, and he just wants to make sure he doesn't say something he shouldn't. It's the running for me though, and the going into hiding, that's making me think he knows what happened.
It would ACTUALLY make sense for the P.D. to say they weren't connected, in hopes that Brian would come out of hiding, and talk with them.
If he DID do something to all 3 of them, and he heard the PD say that they didn't think the cases were connected, it would make him more likely to talk.
Just a thought...

@EmApostol
I agree!
A lot of things connect for sure.
I know that the Police have said that they "don't think" things are related, but I can't help but think they are. It's way too ironic that B & G have an altercation, then nobody hears from Gabby again (her Mother thinks that even the text she received WASN'T from Gabby). Then this couple is found dead and Brian ends up back in FL in Gabby's van, WITHOUT GABBY!
Him running now, makes things even more strange. If nothing happened, why is he running? Why did he retain attorneys? Why isn't he talking with Police and telling them where Gabby is? Or where he saw her last & why she isn't with him?
Why did he hitchhike with that couple and offer to pay them $200 when they supposedly didn't have much money for a hotel room, when they were stopped by police?
Not to mention, who leaves their girlfriend out in the middle of nowhere camping by themselves, to go and camp alone as well? The couple who picked him up, said that he said he'd been camping for a few days by himself, and that Gabby was back at the campsite "supposedly" working on her Instagram.
I'm not sure about you, but I sure as Hell wouldn't want to camp by myself "IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE." It wasn't like they were at an actual campground. Screw that!
Plus, I'm not sure if you saw the bodycam footage from when they were stopped, but it was obvious that her fear was to be left... That was the whole reason for the altercation that day. She was terrified that he would leave without her. She admitted that. Almost like he'd either done that before, or had threatened to.
Sorry for such a long comment, but I personally think that he did something to Gabby and these people maybe witnessed it.
To try to cover himself, he killed them, and staged it to look like a rape (hence why he told the other couple he was "camping by himself").
He likely hid the van somewhere afterwards, then hid out for a while (when the couple ended up picking him up) and then hitchhiked closer to get the van, to drive back to FL.
I know that sounds like an awful lot, but nothing truly makes sense with either of these cases. The fact Brian is hiding out, really makes him look guilty.
I know it's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but this guy is really doing a great job of making himself look guilty AF!

Can I ask where you saw that the Police had said that? Was it in an article? Or on a video on YouTube? Or in the comments?
I heard today, that the PD said they weren't connected, but... I have the same thoughts that you mentioned, that maybe the couple witnessed something they shouldn't have, and they were taken out, so they couldn't talk.
It really makes a lot of sense... unfortunately.
It also explains why Brian did a lot of other strange things, and ended up alone in FL on Sept 1st.
Especially when you add in the couple that picked up Brian hitchhiking. Why would he be hitchhiking? He also supposedly offered them $200 to take him to a particular place, but during the drive, when the female mentioned the full name of the place he wanted to go to (because she was familiar with it), he freaked out and said to let him out immediately and that he would find another ride. Why would he freakout about that? Maybe because he was hoping it wasn't a local or somebody who knew the area, and wouldn't remember later, if they happened to see him on the news? He also told the couple that picked him up, that he'd been camping for days with only a backpack and a tarp to sleep on, and that Gabby was supposedlyback at their campsite working on Instagram stuff, or something like that. They said he didn't look like he'd been in the woods for that long and that he didn't have enough gear either.
So... what if he had actually showered and cleaned up, after he did whatever he did?
I actually wonder if he killed that couple and then drove their van to a different location, try to steer people/PD away from their bodies. Then he hitchhiked back to wherever Gabby's van was parked, or within hiking distance. It's way too weird that he decided to hitchhike and offer to pay them $200 (when they supposedly DIDN'T have much money and couldn't afford a hotel room, when the PD pulled them over and separated them for a night).
I totally agree that it's innocent until proven guilty, but... this guy is doing a great job, making himself look EXTREMELY guilty.
Also, I wonder if he had other plans for that couple that picked him up, and that maybe he saw the female's text, when she texted her Mother that they'd picked up a hitchhiker. She talked about that, in one of her tiktok videos. It's very possible that since he was sitting in the backseat, that he saw the text, and also her mother's response, which was something like "Are you trying to get murdered." Or maybe she laughed about it in the car and he was like "NOPE"... I'm outta here.
