I have to say that you can really tell what type of family this was with how they responded after the verdict. They didn't let out any loud cheers or degrading comments towards the officers. They just listened to the verdict and then quietly comforted each other. Yes, you could see/tell their reaction, and even hear some of their comments, but they were respectful towards the situation.
This really does show a lot. I'm sure it took a great amount of *self control*, to not shout.
Also, for the young men in the car to ask the officer to pray? That was huge...
As the spouse of an officer who's been on the job for almost 25 years, I have to say that I'm very glad that This verdict was reached. Although it won't bring back this poor young man, it will DEFINITELY set a presedence for future officers, and what they can expect...
IF THEY DON'T ACT ACCORDINGLY!
We have to start putting into place, more disciplinary actions, when officers screw up... Whether by accident or not.

I don't think talking about your military days (which people will automatically think PTSD), is a good idea.
As a spouse of an officer, I firmly believe that this cop WAS in a major state of panic. He could've even mentally flashed back to his Military days. As much as I support L.E.O.'s, I have a serious issue with ones who:
A.) Aren't mentally fit to do the job
(Yes, an officer goes through extensive mental testing, etc. To make sure they are mentally sound, but with time, this can change).
B.) An officer who DOESN'T take his/her oath seriously and dishonors the badge (Trigger Happy Cops, and ones who are all about control, negativity, etc).
C.) An officer who CAN'T/WON'T speak the truth.
Some will likely say that what I've described is ALL officers nowadays, but this isn't true. Just because there are bad apples in the bunch, does NOT mean that all officers are rotten.
In the end, I do NOT feel that the officer was justified in this shooting. I hope this young man's family seeks Justice, and this "cop" loses his badge and seeks some serious mental health. He had already spoken about a shooting earlier in the day, and feeling like he was on "high alert."
That right there, speaks volumes. If you CANNOT do you job, at least GO HOME. Nobody deserves to lose their life, because you're feeling high strung.
PERIOD
