I can tell you Hassan Talib that my Sweetie who has been in Law Enforcement for almost 25 years has never had to use his gun and is not an EVIL PIG. In fact, I know for sure that with his training and how well trained he is with his gun that if he ever had to use his weapon that he would kill somebody, and that he would end up quitting his job because he wouldn't be able to continue. He had one night where a guy was high and going around the neighborhood, going door to door actually, with a sword (we live in the country). He had already gotten off work (he usually works from 3pm-1am: so it tends to bring the crazies out haha!), but he decided to stop for a visit at my house. When he got back into his car at 4am to head home, he turned on his radio to see what was going on and heard a call for all available units. Because we live in a smaller town, he knew it was his job as a Sergeant to head that way and so he did (he was still in his uniform of course). As he got to the area, he grabbed his rifle and took his place, laying on the ground in his location, watching the crazed guy, high on what they figured was Meth and PCP (they'd dealt with him before). I remember him very vividly telling me about him (the crackhead) walking towards the officers making slashing motions towards the officers, and his marker on his forehead and him telling me, "Dude! Just drop the fucking sword." He did NOT want to have to shoot this guy. He knew he wouldn't usually do something like this and it was all because of the drugs. This was the THIRD time they'd been out to this location for the SAME guy, and the same issue. Fortunately at the last minute the guy dropped the weapon. He had no idea "just how close he was too meeting his Maker."
I hate how people seem to think that ALL officers are bad, when they aren't. I've been with my Sweetie for almost 4 years now and I know the fears he has. I know how much he takes his oath SERIOUSLY and how he truly wants to honor the badge and protect people. He's actually fired cops for not being good officers so when I say that he takes his position seriously, I mean it. A lot of people talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

There's no such thing as a "good one," if they aren't doing anything to the "bad ones."
With that being said, My Sweetie, IS one of the Good ones, and DOES Fire the bad ones. Not only that, but he's actually gone up and taken the stand for the VICTIM side in trial. He's not afraid to do the right thing. It's not easy as a Sergeant to ALWAYS do the right thing though. You end up having other officers and Sergeants whisper behind your back, but at least he's able to sleep at night. He's been doing this now for almost 25 years and he's still never had to fire his weapon (knock on wood that NEVER happens, and nobody ever fires at him). I truly believe that the world needs more like him. I don't just say that because of who he is to me, but because of "Who... He... Is."
For an officer to testify against a fellow officer, that takes some serious balls... And he has those. But then again, he has very strong morals and values and so I think that's why he is the way he is.
He's one of those guys who's more about teamwork and less about power, if that makes sense? At any rate, I just wanted to let you know about my situation with Law Enforcement, because I do think it's different, but I do understand that there are always bad apples in the bunch. And sometimes, you end up with a box of a bunch of rotten ones...
