Looking at the big picture, I can see this outcome greatly affecting our country if families that were willing to help others now worry that whomever they help could take advantage of their generosity and turn on them. I say this as someone whose family twice (two different generations) helped out those that they became like family to us, we gladly took them in and each of them were able to over come their struggles and had a successful life. To this day we still have contact with them and one of them we alway made sure to see them at least once a year to visit when they lives hours away. Nearly every Thanksgiving we always make room at our table for one of them that is how close we’ve been all these years. We might not see eye to eye on certain situations but they are always family to us. On top of that, this was a story that proved that our country was healing racial tensions, that others can look after those of their community without race holding us back. It’s this stuff that proves cartoonist Scott Adams called it out was correct and this is going to set back our country another generation of learning to trust one another. It truly is tragic that too many pare not seeing the consequences of this ordeal, even worse, encourage the divide and adds more tension and bitterness.
