  1. I have lost an uncle and an aunt because of their unhealthy weight contributing to their early deaths. One was in their early 50’s (like 51) and the other was in her mid 40’s (no older than 46.) While I understand the intent is to uplift people’s spirits, however to accepting unhealthy weight is asking them to shorten their lifespan. Then is coming from someone who isn’t obese yet, but is considered overweight, this is not a message of shaming but the intent is to get someone who believes these lies to wake up. People who are obese deserve better, not to be shammed but also not to enable them to not try to make the effort to live a happier and healthier life. The issues these people have with these body positivity acclamation is they always leave out the hardest parts of being obese, you’re body has less energy, many are going to be depressed no matter how much there is this enabling to act like it’s a normal thing, it is not, it affects so many different healthy issues on the side from diabetes to wearing thin your joints. Each person is different, but I’ll gladly support those who know they need to find a healthier way to improve themselves. Shaming people I think won’t work because it just encourages certain people to remain in their shells, the goal is to motivate them, so that they have the independence to know how to take care of themselves. You probably have seen previous messages of BLM to get that I am not a fan of that organization and those activists.
