@TJ I’m truly sorry for the mess that the Europeans are in , however you do have to take account that your countries LET Germany have the final say in a lot of stupid decisions. I’d also point out that Brussels isn’t better being the center point of Europeans aristocracy to push the papers acting like they are one giant hive and not reflecting the decisions that is best for their sovereign nation’s interest.
If you want to see this have different results, Europeans have got to stop pointing the blame on the US and reflect the decisions made by each contributor. Americans here are getting fed up with doing what we can to help but then it’s never enough, or being treated like everything is our fault. It’s turning more people off of wanting that relationship with the different European countries when they let the most destructive ones take charge. If anything, the last 10 years while the UK has floundered because there’s still a handful resentful that the country had Brexit, I look at the way things are handled and the UK’s floundering is in a better position imo.
With that, there has to be a change of mindset of American involvement, believe it or not, Americans are getting tired of getting involved in every stupid thing. Apparently the world thinks we put our noses in everything, but the reality is we get DRAGGED in everything, and no one is happy. We want to get the chance to focus on the issues at home, but this back and forth demanding Americans leave as if we invaded Europeans while in the same breathe demand we defend Europe. This game is a serious turn off and practical people need to step in because the patience of Americans lately has shortened that if we’re going to be treated as the punching bag, Americans will have no regrets walking away in peace of mind. This sentiment will change if certain countries running Europe that have abused their position for too long finally faced the consequences and be told off. Believe it or not, Americans wanted to have good relations with most of Europe, along with a history of our country to the European nations, we had our men, boys, die so Europe can be liberated. Contrary to what certain European opinions, Americans have no wish to control our allies, we are tired of being dubbed “the world’s police” or “leader of the free world,” we are tired of pulling the extra weight only to realize our supposed allies can’t even deliver their promise of a fraction of the defense funds. On top of being treated like we’re the escape goat, it’s made more Americans reflect to maybe be more selective of who we can trust.
That’s not to say Americans are not innocent, however, Americans want to just focus on the issues at home so the nation can make better decisions, we’re getting tired of the gaslighting. We’re tired of being accused of meddling and we had high hopes that Europe would be fine, yet I’ve reflected back in the last 10 years and it feels like the men who died there fighting for Europe died in vain.
If Europeans are tired of this too, then understand who are the ones that have dominated the policies. Americans are trade partners, we have literally little say in the policies Europeans run their governments, the only exception is how we handle our military as they are ours. One thing you did do though was point out the loudest speaker whose been controlling the European policies, Germany, so I think is the most productive step to address the issues at hand. We’ll see if this actually will lead to things being fixed, however a lot of damage has been done and a lot of time wasted at laughing and degrading the state the US is in when both continents are not fairing well.
