Just in 5 minutes and I can tell they should have followed Jeff’s advice. The thing with the DC world is it’s not as grungy as Batman/Gotham. It focus more on corruption behind the mundane way of life, which does have an appeal if done right. Making everything dark loses that unique edge yet they carelessly blends every dark part that there is no contrast to Gotham.
Always known the whole thing was going to flop because of the direction Man of Steel went. They ruined the archetype of Superman as a powerful being yet self conscious of his place in the world. There is surprisingly a lot you can do with Superman, shows have done well with the Clark Kent vs Superman or Reeves’ classic of being almost perfect yet silly in some accounts how things transpire. I think it was well done with Aquaman and Wonder Woman (first) movies because they had a story that wasn’t depressing, but focused on the growth of the characters while not revamping their origins to not their original appeal.
With Man of Steel it just became how he was treated by others with little gratitude, and in the next movie he ends up going to trial because of the damage he caused while “saving the day.” It doesn’t match with Superman because we such power he was always careful in his battles to not create more damage. The Man of Steel, he didn’t acknowledge it, got in trouble the next movie and it set him up with Batman not trusting him. They skipped decades of character of Superman to get to the dark side, and with our taking the time developed that, it will flop! Instead he was stuck in this sad state being treated like a horrible being and there was little chance to see the essence of Superman, hope.
Now this is my assessment before any woke trash got involved. The last movie I saw was Superman vs Batman (was forced to see it) so I cannot comment further. But just knew it was not going to stand well based on getting the one most important character right. Batman might be a fan favorite, but Superman is the glue to the WHOLE DC arc. You get that wrong, it will not stick together.
