Apparently the Japanese found out exactly what they were fighting against when they heard the Navy had ice cream dispensers on their ships. Turns out there’s a whole story that the US accidentally created a large demand of ice cream that was to replace alcohol during the probation, and that it was encouraged to socialize in ice cream parlors. This ended up creating a generation addicted to ice cream that ice cream was put on these ships, and then eventually there was a lot of supply of extra milk when the war ended that ended up with the government buying the excess milk to create cheese to just store in random caves. Probably best to just check out the Fat Electrician’s take on this story, but it really highlights how much supply we historically have had.
