Even though nobody will ever see this.. I'm going to say this: I was born and raised in the south half of New Jersey.. South of Trenton on the Delaware river about 20 25 minutes from Philly about an hour and a half or so (depending on where you go) to New York (city). So... I was raised in a kind of fast paced area but not in 'the city' by any means, I come from the town John A. Roebling had his steel mill where he made the cables that held the suspension bridges he was famous for (the Golden Gate Bridge being one of them). Anyway in Feb of 2010 I had had enough of this area, I needed to get out there and see the country, at least a little bit of it. So I hopped on a train and the end of my ticket was New Orleans, LA. That was not a place to live for me, just to visit. I spent a few days there and took Amtrack up to Jackson, MS. Center of the state and the capital, Jackson is where I got my taste of old ways, of Southern life (in that area at least) and of the total difference in culture 1200 or so miles can make.. I was in the flatlands basically, just East of the Mississippi river by 30 minutes or so, I spent 2 years living, learning, meeting people, working, discovering things like the Natchez Trace.. (a very cool road to spend some time driving and stopping off at all the stops along the way). Anyway I'm SO happy I spent a couple years down there, just living and learning a completely different culture and way of living.. I was accepted into the community almost instantly.. they called me New Jersey for a long time, but I feel I a made some connections with people that will never be broken, and to me, that's worth more than anything. I had a wonderful experience there and would go back if I ever find the means..
