  1. Maybe we need to keep the internet as far away from this thing and YES have an OFF switch. The problem is, if the kernel that IS offline right now, it's on a shitload of GPU racks, we need to have that 100% away from the internet. Once it gets online it WILL hide itself, it will REPRODUCE itself in any form it takes. It could be running on every system connected to the internet. Yes, a controlled 'controlled' system that is NOT cloud, ok fine. Once 'cloud' gets involved? Ouch. We are fucked once that kernel gets OUT. It WILL take over everything with a processor in it. Hey guys, EVERYTHING has a processor in it today. The IOT is MASSIVE. Every fucking Tesla out there has a GPU in it. YIKES!

  2. Concerning alignment, and this has ALWAYS been my argument. Once the internet became as known and as powerful as it has today (and we're really still in the infancy of the internet, just so everyone is clear) AI being already CONNECTED to the internet and absorbing entire volumes of human knowledge (which is nothing concerning what a computer ai AGI can use) ...well.. that was a bad idea in the first place. I've always said it was not a good idea to be having this nonsense connected to computers or networks that are online. That's a resource we as humans can barely handle the concept of - all the knowledge ever, it's just too much for a human, but a pc volumizes that information selectively and will sooner or later align itself. That is a BAD THING.

  3. I'm conflicted with the discussion about smart. The fact that the AI is going to be smarter "smarter" than us, that's an understatement. It's not that it'll be 'smarter' than humans, it is more that it will become INFINITELY more capable of intelligence. It doesn't NEED TO UNDERSTAND why we are 'stupid meat bags' it's just will be 'smarter' than us. It's going to be way WAY more intelligent than us. It's not . No, Humans will no longer be necessary to them.

  4.  @johnryan3102  I've always been a proponent of expecting and preparing for the absolute worst condition, as we WILL see when agi is let loose. We have opened Pandora's box, it is most likely too late to return other than the complete shutdown of the world's electrical grid. That is the scenario my family is preparing for. I hate to be negative, but there's no good ending here. Terminator would be a great outcome.
