It's interesting, people go bananas over cutting edge, leading tech, ground breaking etc etc, but hey, they're building a relatively (in comparison) safe battery that fulfills a market need TODAY, that is comparable in energy to weight considering the safety of the units. AND they're MOVING PRODUCT! They're NOT abusing the environment so bad as all the MINING these cutting edge batteries are using.. I think it's GREAT, I've told all my friends to invest in BYD if at all possible (if not use a firm that holds them).. Good on you for putting the news out there for what it is!

Glad you're OK mate!! Prayers from the U.S. for a speedy recovery!!

I don't think you're overly excited at all Sam.. you're an ultra high energy guy who loves this electric revolution.. I think it's GREAT please keep it up!! There is hope for this world after all!

I truly believe, unless Elon continually documents all of his ideas and plans, the only way his exponential growth and success will end would be with his passing. If he lives a full life, with many many more years here on this planet, he will surprise all of us with his accomplishments and the amazing growth of our future. Sustainability is key to his empowering ideas, and he's well smarter and bolder than many out there today. We need more minds like his.

It seems to be the final 'economic' nail in the coffin for combustion engine vehicles.. Let's see how it goes! I'm so excited for this future. It just seems like the battery technology and what it takes (in labor and natural resources) to make these batteries is going to take a bit of work to get to the supply minimums we will need for this very close future (less than 8 years?)

I have a feeling honda will com up with an electric driveline to replace their 3.5L v6 and the 2.4 inline 4. I doubt there will be any issues for Honda.. Seriously

I really can't wait to see what the future holds.. look at what's changed in the States, in 1908 streets were covered in horse and carriage, in 1913 streets were covered with cars.. 1 horse.. what do you think 2020s will hold up to the '30s I can't even imagine the exponential growth in my lifetime 1978 birth.. it's amazing!!

I mean, initial manufacturing is probably a bad place to go for concerns. I do thing that we aren't quite there with battery technology / recharging yet.. We ARE on the way, but for the govt. in my country (USA) they're trying to ELIMINATE ALL FOSSIL FUEL PRODUCTION completely, including motor vehicles.. There are a LOT of products we take for granted today that are made with fossil fuels. In this country, it's not just EV that people are concerned with, it's the idea we're going to completely move away from fossil fuels. I think that's disillusioned.. We will STILL NEED petroleum based fuels and products. It's that simple. I think it's silly for people to say EV are more (really more?) environmentally unsound than an ICE vehicle.. those people are out of their minds.. The battery argument is silly as well, they'll totally be recycled, and you'll most likely be FINED if you try to 'dispose' of them.. We are NOT there yet, but we are moving forward.. I agree with both sides in some ways..

Great video showing this technology to the world, Mate! I hope your voice heals up soon, speaking has become your life, and I think you're doing a wonderful job here!! Thank you so much for your work.

It's probably difficult, Sam, for you to get a grasp on how powerful the big 3 automakers are here in the States.. It's 100% union, and that's what it is. Democrats are all about unions and profit margins. They will not understand Elon's ideas, no matter how right or left he is. He is beyond politics and silly ideas of kickbacks and union nonsense. I'm not against unions, not at all, but the idea here is Joe Biden is old school and well never see Tesla as an American company.. just the way it is
2
Might be a fun toy, but not for 100 grand.. great video though
2
The thing of it is, AI is coming either way, and if Elon is concerned about it taking over... well.. one day it will if it hasn't already, anyway.. yeah he might as well be on the forefront (as he always has been).. again, why not lead the pack rather than see what happens otherwise? It's going to be a while for AGI but Tesla is pretty much an AI / Robotics company anyway
2
Darnit my backpack full of rocks isn't worth shit... thanks a lot

The democrats, leftists in particular, the progressive left only want to destroy American manufacturing and are in bed with imports.. It's ridiculous to anyone with a brain but that's what it is

It's absolutely majestic in West Virginia, the mountains and rivers.. Thing is, it's still a state and suffers from all the silly corruption that the rest of the U.S. and WORLD does.. Shameful activity by these lunatic 'dealers'.
1
If the legacy automakers had listened to Sandy Monroe, they'd have been using these castings for years now.. They're SO far behind the 8ball it's probably too late for them. Shame

I'd buy a Tesla phone from Tesla. It's like the video card shortage, every time Tesla puts out a product shopping bots buy up all the stock and the get resold on the grey market, like ebay, for a triple increase in price.. that's simply unacceptable. Bollocks.

The 'ch' in Michigan is soft.. like sh.. mishigian.. eh

Sounds like another gimmick to add to the dealer's list

Windows updates.. damnit

It'll hit 100 when it splits 10-1 ha

So basically we are building out, we are politically forcing humans to create and produce the technology, information, hardware and software to make humans totally unnecessary. Awesome.

Honestly though Sam, I truly do think that today, and for the foreseeable future, electric is still created with coal and other fossil fuels more than renewable at the power plant. I don't know the statistics on a charge of an electric vehicle compared to a tank of fuel burning, I'm sure it's less even with coal power plants, but society isn't quite ready for creation of electricity without the use of fossil fuels just yet.. 10-15 years minimum before they start a real move towards sustainable renewable energy. Maybe I'm wrong, but also a lot of people don't want electric cars. They just don't, be it lack of education or just the feel and sound of in ICE engine. Dunno but it's still going to be quite some time, and I also believe the laws aren't going to stop ICE vehicle by 2035 or 40 or even 50.. I just think the fossil fuel companies have WAY too much currency in the political marketplace.
1
@ethelred2648 Oh it's definitely more costly to use fossil fuels, no doubt about that. I'm just not sure (and again, this isn't the point of his episode here, just in general) and by no means am I about big oil and all.. I'm just concerned that we in general as a society aren't necessarily taking EV and also renewable energy as a whole, or the infrastructure changes we will need as seriously as we should. I'm not in any way defending fossil fuels, at al.. I'm just concerned politics and coffers are going to spoil renewable and sustainable options no matter what nonsense is "told" to us.. sorry

I have a thought that the massive amount of universities and the high amount of engineers is probably why the United States is seeing this battery evolution. Remember there is a LOT of finance involved with things that are eco-viable, green, battery etc..
1
Joe Biden (ugh) is pushing GM and FORD because they're old fashioned union shops that make MASSIVE financial kickbacks to the democratic party. That's it.. He'll never EVER acknowledge Tesla because even though Elon and his corp. is paying MORE than their fair share of TAXES (theft), he's not union, not a legacy kickback pocket greaser.. sorry but it'll never happen
1
Not so sure about Sony being able to keep up in production, they can't even produce enough Playstation 5 units to keep on the shelves..
1
I doubt it's even a FEW years.. i think it depends on how fast his neurolink evolves tbh
