From your statement at the very end, it actually sounds like today is the day to buy Astra stock.. they'll get past this, I'm sure of it

I've been a HAM for years now and honestly, there are some HARDCORE people in the club..

Remember, Scott, the only difference between a conspiracy (theory) and the truth is about 6 weeks.. : )

Considering they rebutted your previous video concerning their steam rocket angrily, I have found that a response like that usually means you're closer to the truth and they're annoyed you called them out on the idea. The problem is they haven't shown a working prototype (maybe they have?) and if they did, even at 3/4 scale or something, maybe the $ would show up from some investors.. there's always an investor for space related shit.. always

Aircraft fuel is easily replaceable. Lives aren't. Better safe than sorry when in a plane.

Scott, you did everything 100% the best you could, you are very intelligent, you reacted perfectly. Thank you so much for taking action, if you weren't on scene then who knows the result here? I am typing as you're speaking but from what I've heard you say, you are a hero as you got fire there asap to protect the rest of the property there. It's horrific to know human life was lost, but we expect these things to happen, in life.. sadly. Thank you for taking the time to share this information and get it off your chest best you can. You will have to deal with the 5 stages here.. as we all do.. take care Scott. And get back up in the air asap.

It's WAY WAY cheaper than going to actual space!! you get 5 hours and 15 parabolas for 8 grand.. I'm down!!

I think, as physicists and rocket engineers in general, we need to simply discover new physics laws that could simply negate these effects of orbital dynamics and change the way gravity and density effect reentry. Why should we sit and allow silly 'laws' to impede us? : )

Maybe there's a chance Elon and his team could put the launch videos up on one of 'his' sites and let us download them in 4k quality? I don't watch anything video related on Twitter eh X, it's terrible. I like to watch on my big screen and 'x' is crap for video.

The booster separation photo from John Kraus was pretty darn amazing!

I would be AMAZING if we could memory hole all the alleged 'progress' we've made on environmentally safe things and go back to having things that WORK the way they're supposed to. Imagine the possibilities!!

Interesting, you're basically speaking ham radio stuff here. It's way more in-depth but ham uses the same kinda idea with the ionosphere and the time and all.. neat
1
@scottmanley I was just kidding around, seeing how crazy the world has gotten recently, I'm TOTALLY in agreement with your statement, and I'm not even a flat Earther! haha thanks for all the work you do!
1
It sucks for SpaceX but I'm a HAM so I'm SUPER excited about the solar maximum coming!! Yay propagation!
1
The only way you can land at Edwards is in an emergency, or mayday call and it's either fuel out or you're about to crash. (I think, I'm not a pilot but that makes the only sense to me)

Thankfully they didn't keep DNSS as the name of GPS, man everyone doing networking would be SO confused!!

I think a separate set of tanks for re-entry may be necessary to keep from plumbing problems during hot stage. Maybe. I know real estate is an issue but I bet 2 tiny tanks just for the re-entry burn, pressurized by themselves and connected in a way they keep full pressure on the entire system, all 13 engines.. maybe that would work. Not sure Elon would take my suggestion, but who knows.

It looks like you're really having a blast flying and what a great little setup for the sim.. I was lucky and picked up the thrustmaster hotas x a couple years before the pandemic.. It's not a realistic cockpit yoke and throttle, but it's quite sensitive, and a ton of fun to use in flight sim on an extreme budget (got if for like 35 dollars) - if you can find one they're like 200 bucks now, the pandemic did that. Anyway thanks so much for sharing this info, so much fun!

"contrail" uh huh

Interesting Elon Musk would have even released the idea that they'd partener with securities and allow govt. projects or black ops on their starlink system.. just saying that, to me, is a security breach.. I guess it's public knowledge if our tax dollars pay for it, but still, they can hide whatever they want.. very interesting.

Very impressive Scott.

I hate to say this, but I don't trust a single thing that China says it's doing. If they say they're sending up a telescope for whatever scientific reasons, education, observing... yeah? I am going to suggest it's a spy satellite and it doesn't need to be up there. I don't trust the CCCP. I have NO problems with Chinese born citizens, as a matter of a fact I have great sympathy for citizens of that State, but the government? NO way.. Don't trust them even a little bit. Sorry.

I'm going to suggest it's most likely a very undesirable act to have to poop in bags in zero gravity for 10 days or so. I'd agree, the toilet is a primary failure point and would require a return to base. Yikes!

I think it's wonderful you have this option to get things not only off your chest but to force reality to the forefront. I am sorry for the loss, tragic events are always hard to deal with and having been there in real life, to have thought only of the involved, you are a hero Scott, no matter the outcome.

I wonder what China is up to launching so many recon satellites. Huh..

@TheEvilmooseofdoom very true. I'm not sure i like that so much but the past 3 years has really locked in my distrust of my own government, the good old U S of A. I don't think any one government is worse than the other, i don't trust any of them anymore. It's a shame, I'm from the end if Gen X, we were the last generation raised to believe in our country and to trust we truly were doing the right thing. Not any more.
