  2. Definitely the right tool for the job is MOST apparent when messing with augers. I did fences and decks for a bunch of years down in Florida and yeah once you start a hole, you get 1 plunge with an auger.. Nice to see the 36" do the job the right way!

Sam, I know you're making content, but even if you're not putting on a show and this is exactly the way this deal went down, man you seriously lucked out on this one.. what a score with the 6x DVD player, the basically rebuilt transmission for 5 beans.. I mean come on, yes it's the 'ugly' year, but you can absolutely doctor up those cheap plastics and make that thing a sweet soccer mom mobile! If you're in that thing all in for under 3 grand with some paint correction, dude that is a total score in my book!!

  5. It was pretty sweet of IBM to allow you into their kingdom. Very nice, Dave. I suppose telling them you're the fella responsible for task manager, that's a shoe right into the magical land! (I have a friend who worked on writing the tracking software EVERYONE uses today, (usps ups fedex etc.) it all started in IBM.. He's a ham, I'm a ham, we're all nerds!! What an accomplishment that was!!! edit: Ok good to see you're an old member of the club. Also, the guy who wrote (well he was a big part of it) the tracking software, his name is Mike Collins. You can look for him, I'm not sure he's online (he's old now) but it's funny, all the major transport companies use what he wrote to track packages, the kingdom at IBM was SO large things got lost ALL the time, so I guess he just ended up being tasked with the job, but man he got zero recognition outside IBM for what he did. The guy wrote tracking software, like the one everybody uses. We ALL look for where our packages are. Mike is the guy to thank for that, but when you work for a Goliath like IBM, it was IBM who got the credit, not Mike. Anyway, what a great in-depth look at the IBM mainframe (still today) server solutions. So cool.

  7. Those coolant hose clamps you have Sam, that's one of the main reasons I ended up buying myself a 3d printer.. I didn't get a real high end one, but I did get one I could upgrade and put the work in with.. and I have printed SO MANY tools, clamps, connectors, clips, TOYS.. ALL KINDS of things - a lot of computer things too (accessories and keys and stuff) Sam I have fallen in LOVE with not only printing 3d models of whatever it is i need around the house / shop, but man I have figured out how SIMPLE it is to just CREATE my OWN 3d print files and make - from scratch - whatever it is I might need to fix whatever project I'm working on. I am ADDICTED to 3d printing almost as much as I am to watching you fix auction JUNK on YouTube!! Thanks for all the years of awesome content Sam.. seriously! - Also, I really miss the weather in Florida.

  12. It's funny, Matt, in the last video when you were pushing that brush pile at first I thought to myself that D8 really should not be struggling that much to push that pile. I realize it's a hefty pile of brush, but man.. that thing should be a beast with pushing power that is what it's made to do. I hope it's something easy for you to take care of, 3 minutes in and ready for a fun filled 40 more! Thanks man for all the hard work you share with us! edit: that is a pretty darn bright headlamp!!

  15. I'll be honest Matt you have some really great human beings as followers. To have saved those 2 beautiful pieces of artwork form the scrap man, really great of your subscriber to have called you to come get those. Man that's just great to see.. I'm 31 minutes in and the second one so far looks like she needs a little work, but man I'm SURE it's nothing you can't handle. Worst case it's FULL of parts to save any other Pony Motors you come across in life! Great video this is GREAT to see!

I'm still in the first 10 minutes of the video, I'd like to say thank you Matt for all the hard work you put in to recording your life basically, for us to watch.. 2023 wasn't so bad of a year, I hope 2024 brings you the best of times! It's lousy the way some people don't seem to understand when you list an item on eBay, it's not a JOKE to bid something up - or just to bid on something with no intent on purchasing in the first place - it's frustrating.. I stopped selling on eBay due to all the times I've had things sold but never paid for. It was a long time ago, but still.. it's just not right. Especially for you, you have no time to waste on things like that.. eBay takes TIME out of the day, and to get that great feeling something will be leaving, something you had your time with and are ready to move on.. then it still sits.. that stinks. If I had the cash I'd buy a few of the things you have on your lot, but.. I don't.. I have children. Haha Happy New Year Matt to you and your wife and all your family and friends!   18. Chris over in Lumberton, NJ - basically rt. 38 and 206 next the the DMV there's an old home improvement store that looks just like that plumbing supply house. It's called Diamond M Lumber.. as soon as the video started it made me think of that place. It's like a Home Depot but from 1968. It's like walking into a time capsule there, they have EVERYTHING for all the old houses here from the early 1900s, all the old electrical stuff, full sized boards, the old ceiling tiles for drop ceilings, he's got all the stuff from back in the day. He's got newer products too, it is a supply house, but man I love going there for stuff you can get at the big box stores.. he's got EVERYTHING..

I'd almost bet with that unit having the easy to use filler neck for the oil, maybe it was thought the maintenance truck would roll up, do the oil swap with the super convenient drain 1/4 turn valve on it and the pipe NOT draining the oil all over the machine, anyway that the truck would have a 55 gallon drum of oil and a pump with a hose on it and he'd oil it up just as if he were fueling it up. Back in the day they did things right. Today? Well some job sites do..

  27. 19:24 that is my lifetime dream Chris. To find an old dilapidated yet still there building with an old one of those in the floor lifts, the good ones.. destitute but still fixable.. I was living in Jackson MS. for a couple years and man there were SO many places like that.. one day I'll retire and buy an old closed down shop and probably have to pay to have the old gas tanks removed and all that, but still. to bring back that old mechanic shop.. yes!!!

  29. I sure hope she finds the right loving home. That's a great old piece of history there (nothing special, but she's got PLENTY of life left in her!!) She'd make a great unit to keep on the land for a fella or fellette, use her here and there, load some gravel or rocks now and then.. heck she's probably got a lifetime of use left for a guy's land..   30. It feels SO good to just repair broken things.. yes, it's simple to just buy a new part.. but it's so satisfying to just repair the old one!! Plus, a lot of original parts are just better than repops.. even if they're oem, the original just tends to be better.. (with exceptions, of course)

  40. There are times I leave things dirty when I don't know them just in case I need witness marks if I have to remove a part that needs to be located specifically.. I'll wash things AFTER I'm finished with the repair but not usually before. If I'm going all out in a restoration, then fine, I'm going to do a nut and bolt so I'll re-seat everything anyway but no.. leaving it the way it was found is sometimes very important actually. (Bird poop not necessary though!)

  41. Very cool, sorry i don't have any Osborne advice, although I'm just about old enough, the first portable or luggable I remember was an '86 maybe? My mom worked as the payroll clerk for what's now called 'Burlington Stores' but used to be known as Burlington Coat Factory (originated in Burlington, New Jersey - next town over from me) anyway she brought home an IBM portable 'portable, sure' system.. 5" amber (I'm pretty sure, maybe red) CRD, 2x 5.25" floppy drives, folding down keyboard.. That was the day I fell in LOVE with computers.. my parents then bought a Goldstar (became LG) XT PC Clone. So yeah, that was 1987 I think.. I became a computer nerd, learned Dos and Windows and then networking and Mac stuff, all the goodies.. : ) Became a HAM in 2016 (FINALLY) haha.. yeah I'm into all the same stuff you make videos about so I subscribed!   51. When I was a very young man I wanted to learn all about everything that has to do with everything.. I ended up working for Parker Hannifin for a year or so making hydraulic lines for just about everything.. When you were putting the line on the thumb at 16:00 or so, looking at the high pressure yellow line on the hose you were connecting I had very fond memories of being a kid learning about hydraulics.. thanks Matt.
