  2.  @Agnemons  Kievan Rus was not Ukraine. Rus started in Novgorod, and incorporated lands of modern day Russia, Northern Ukraine and Belarus. Even Kyiv became part of Rus when Oleg, a guy from Novgorod conquered it. Southern Ukraine was tatar but later were conquered and settled by Russians, Greeks and Serbians, with majority of big cities build by Catharine the Great. Western parts of modern Ukraine were stolen from Poland by Stalin and giving to Ukraine.
