Being born and raised in Florida and dealing with countless hurricanes (my workplace office flooded a few days ago, so I had a few days off) - if you have forewarning, make sure you have essential supplies in order, because people instantly jump on getting water, batteries, and fuel. Even if you're not prepping, my car has naturally been on low fuel when hurricanes come and you need to wait for a half hour for fuel just for the pumps to run dry.

  2. I read a couple of Marcinko's books. He is definitely a character and butted heads with many people in the military. He's the stereotypical anti-hero type. His time in Vietnam is wild. He talks about how his team would dress up as VC and go out on night patrols barefoot because it was easier to feel for trip wires.

  4. This reminds me of another GoPro trench video that came out at the start of the war, but it was Ukrainian Spec Ops, I believe. Absolutely brutal close quarters combat. I think the guy shot around 8 different Russians within 2 or 3 feet. It's insane.

  5. Russia does seem to boast and exaggerate their abilities, but I believe their Electronics Warfare abilities are better than we think. It seems they've invested a ton in that direction. And considering that they expect to do most of their fighting on the European Steppe, they should have good tank tech as well - however, they could just pump out a ton of 'good enough' tanks instead. Which is probably the way they went instead.

  8. The pronounciation of 'Garand' differs depending on who you ask, and has become a meme within the community - but I've heard it rhymes with 'Errand'. The last name of the designer of the rifle apparently cleared it up once.

  10. The first time I fired a M1 Garand, it was through a nice stranger I met at a rifle range. He just bought it, and he allowed me to shoot it first. The first round I shot - the charging handle snapped and broke. I felt terrible. I basically just appeared, said "Hello", destroyed his new toy, and then left.
