  1. The first time I fired a M1 Garand, it was through a nice stranger I met at a rifle range. He just bought it, and he allowed me to shoot it first. The first round I shot - the charging handle snapped and broke. I felt terrible. I basically just appeared, said "Hello", destroyed his new toy, and then left.
