That's largely a myth. Maybe in Berlin, sure, but Hitler sent many battle-hardened units to the western front. Some of the best tankers Germany had were in France.

@sebastianjoseph9628 Europe is NOT Socialist. How do people STILL not understand this??
19
@pantherace1000 That doesn't mean they were fighting children. Especially in France. Germany sent its latest weaponry to the West, like the Tiger 2 and more. There were also SS in the west. You're telling me they left that up to children? Please.
6
@fatmanbatman9374 and what does that have to do with children? I never said the western defense was stronger or larger than the eastern offensive

Nazy Germany is what happens when white people go without Pumpkin Spice Lattes for too long

@agnulittumc What people need to control, no matter what system they choose, is corruption. That destroys any and everything. The key is defending against corruption.

@iamaloafofbread8926 a Social Democracy is not Socialist. Socialism is when the state seizes the means of production. Norway seized oil, but besides that everything is privately owned. Same with every other Scandinavian country.

Man, thank goodness the US government no longer interferes or cheats in elections anymore...

I hate being American. I swear this country is so dumb. I hate it.
1
@agnulittumc the closest example would be Norway owning majority shares in the oil industry, but even that is operating within a capitalistic model. The Nordic model is just a mixed economy with a larger focus on social safety nets. Also known as "Social Democracy". That is a Capitalistic model. Scandinavian countries also have a higher "economic freedom" score than the US, meaning in some ways, they are more Capitalist than the US.

@iamaloafofbread8926 Communism is a step further. Socialism still requires the state to own the means of production, but is more flexible, more democratic, and less extreme than Communism but both require the state to seize the means of production. Nordic country industries/means of production are still largely privately owned. Social Democracies are Capitalistic, but lean heavily into social programs.

@elpi2804 Maybe that's how Socialism is sold, but that's not the end result. There's always "a state", whether you call it "the people" or not. Socialism or Communism doesn't keep that from forming. And maybe you don't have capital, but that certainly doesn't mean no one has capital. The world isn't always a zero sum game, and individuals with different experiences and lifestyles exist. A lot of Socialists are stuck in the 1930s mindset of "Robber Baron vs Factory Worker". It's just not the same world anymore.

@elpi2804 I'm no huge fan of capitalism, don't get me wrong. There are plenty of reasons to criticize it. I think what ruins both socialist and capitalist systems is corruption. Neither seem to tackle that problem. You could take Anarcho-Communism or Anarcho-Capitalism and they would both fail due to outside forces or people. If you could make everyone think like you, those ideologies could work, but unfortunately that's not possible in the real world. Communes are great because everyone involved are there voluntarily. That's not to say the status quo is perfect though. There is plenty of corruption, wealth imbalance, exploitation but that's not solely due to capitalism. There should be anti-monopoly/cartel laws being enforced but the state is so intertwined with the private sector that it borders on a plutocracy. People have become more selfish and need to focus on community though and that might be a disconnect due to social media/tech isolating people. I just don't think capitalism at it's most pure, fundamental level is inherently bad.
1
@elpi2804 It's hard to say. I'm a big believer in rooting out corruption and I think corruption plays a larger role than we realize when it comes to problems today. If we came up with real groups or initiatives on combating corruption, that alone could improve things across the board. I also think we as humans have disconnected with each other. There needs to be a bigger importance on community, even at a local level. The closer we are with each other, the more, the better we'll strive to achieve things. That may be harder the more digital our world becomes but I think it's crucial.

What people won't tell you about WW2 is that the Germans did not have any soldiers fighting on the western front. The Americans were fighting 4 year old girls. And the Americans cried going into battle because they were weaker than the more superior and attractive Soviet soldiers on the eastern front, who fought the entire german military - there were no 4 year old girls there. Only the Americans fought girls. And they got their asses kicked.

@Ohmygodstfu2045 Where, boo?

@gloverfox9135 a Tiger tank can obliterate a brand new M1A1 Abrams with Tusk armor.

@merafirewing6591 17 Panzers VS 100 A1 Abrams in 1986 Iran. All 100 Abrams were demolished and the 17 Panzers didn't even lose any fuel. They killed them all with machine gun. 1500 Americans died that day
1
@merafirewing6591 the Panzers can fly. The Germans hid the technology for decades

Wasn't Iwo Jima like 28,000 KIA though? I thought that was the deadliest. Oh wait, 20k in a single day?? Nevermind.
