Everyone here saying carrying yachts by ship is efficient are missing the point. Sure, if you need to move dozens of superyachts across the ocean, that's probably the best way to do it. But we shouldn't have to move dozens of superyachts across the ocean, especially for the enjoyment of just a few dozen individuals. Because nobody should be able to afford such an extravagant, expensive, over-the-top service. And they especially shouldn't do it grudgingly over and over again throughout the year out of some sort of perverse obligation to be wasteful.

@henrivanbemmel It's true that billionaires as a class are pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but they are just the tip of a much larger system that allows people to be more wasteful the wealthier they are. They are representative of the general fact that the wealthy are disproportionately contributing to climate change. I think measures that address the biggest problems do deserve the highest priority, so that means focusing on stuff that affects most people rather than just billionaires, so I think I do agree with you. But the general trend of rich people living wastefully is a big problem, arguably the biggest problem, and the reason countries like the U.S. pollute so much relative to their populations. So it's still worth talking about, even if singling out billionaires exclusively is counterproductive.
