I know that no particular solution to the Navier-Stokes equations has been found and that it has not been proved that a smooth solution even exists for general starting conditions. However, can we prove that some solution must exist for every valid starting condition, even if we cannot construct such a solution or prove that it is smooth? This would probably have no physical relevance, but it's interesting to think about. The way I see the Millennium Problem defined and the general issue described suggests proving such a solution exists is not too difficult, because otherwise the inclusion of that condition might have been addressed.
