But surely a sufficiently flexible pizza can curve in both directions at once. Near the crust, where you are imparting curvature with the force of your fingers, it will have zero curvature in the longitudinal direction and negative curvature in the transverse direction, but near the acute angle (whatever you call the point from the center of the pizza), it could still have zero curvature in the transverse direction and positive curvature in the longitudinal direction (all considered in the orientation of someone looking from above the slice). In other words, math tells us nothing about whether this will be effective, only physics and the material properties of the pizza (especially stiffness) can tell us. In fact, if you try this with uncooked pizza dough, you will find the technique nearly useless!
