  1. Of course, spheres aren't really "spikey" per se in higher dimensions; they are still round. It's just that the vast majority of the space in a hypercube is in the corners, with the middle occupying just a tiny fraction, allowing even a sphere surrounded by unit spheres to reach the middles of the faces of the hypercube (but never near their corners).
