@muffiniepuffs6365 This ruling is about criminal charges. The president was already immune from most civil cases and has been for decades. It's in the damn video, which you would have watched if you were "honest."

Nixon's position was in some ways less extreme and in others more extreme than this court's. Nixon claimed that during time of war or domestic unrest, a president has extraordinary powers that can make actions that would otherwise be illegal legal as long as he is ordering them to protect national security. He does say that the president is not above the law. While his position could be extrapolated to give a president near-total immunity like this, it wouldn't necessarily have to be. Even Nixon would not claim that what Trump did was legal. On the other hand, Nixon claimed that this immunity would extend to any other citizen or group deputized to perform these actions. So not only would the Huston plan not criminally implicate Nixon himself, but it also wouldn't implicate the actual burglars. Nothing the court said goes that far.
