@AlMc-j2y The Nazis didn't win outright. They had a plurality of the vote but not enough to form a governing coalition. Hitler was only appointed Chancellor before a snap election that would have decided the government anyway. Then the Reichstag burned down, and Hindenburg suspended most civil rights. So the equivalent in the US would be if the Republicans got 34% of the vote to the Democrats' 20% (with the remaining 46% for various third parties), and Congress was unable to pass laws, so the president decided to pick the Speaker of the House because the House couldn't. Then the Capitol caught on fire, with the president responding by blaming the Democrats and making the Speaker a dictator. There are some parallels, but it's not a really close analogy.
