  1. Yeah, if the holes don't add any cost to manufacture, and people think plugs without the holes might be cheaper or just weird, the manufacturers have no incentive to get rid of them. I mean, if anything, they actually save a bit on copper.

  3. 0:16 It's so frustrating when I google something simple and find people spreading obviously wrong answers apparently because they just sorta figured. If I wanted idle speculation with no thought put into it, I wouldn't have asked the question. I can do that myself. Like, maybe holes in plugs could be gripped by something in the outlet or whatever. It doesn't seem like the most natural design, but it could be. Except it's not. We know it's not, because we use them all the time. Why do people who don't know what they are talking about just make up bad answers instead of waiting for someone more knowledgeable to respond?
