@jjradV Ahhhh... marginally informed radical vegan... explains a lot. 4.4 million cats and dogs entered US shelters in 2022, which was a slight increase from the year prior. The national intake remained at 18.1% lower than it was in 2019. The increase in dog intake was driven by strays, which compromised 49.8% of the dog intake in 2021 and 53.6% in 2022. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pet adoptions decreased by 36% during 2020. The shelters are full due to staffing problems of the COVID-19 lock-downs, with 85% operating at 25% staff in 2022. Additionally the number of shelters has decreased from 2,951 in 2020 to 2046 in 2021. PS: I highly doubt they are eating dogs.🙄😬
