The United States Department of the Treasury confiscated the organization's property and prohibited transactions with it according to Executive Order 13224, while the State Department blocked its members from entering the country. The US revoked that classification for the ETIM in October 2020 on the basis that "there has been no credible evidence that ETIM continues to exist." The U.S. State Department however continues to view the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) as a terrorist organization."
