The Australian union movement is almost entirely an arm of the Labor party and as such it is a Human Rights violation to force anyone to join or help fund a union. In fact when independent unions started up in Queensland the current Labor controlled government attempted to make them legally invalid in a blatant violation of that aspect of Human Rights. They know it is completely unethical and yet they still do it. For them it is not a question of if certain actions are unethical but more a question of if they can get away with it by exploiting a legal loophole. A job ad from 2 years ago on the union website said "The United Workers Union is proudly affiliated with the Australian Labor Party."
