Not a lot of truths in that story. If Forrest was serious he'd already have pilot plants up and running, perhaps even using more advanced technology that pulls CO2 from the air to combine with hydrogen produced via solar thermal processes to produce synthetic fuels and or gas that can feed into existing markets as the resulting molecules are identical to those sourced from "natural" reserves, with the exception of the purity being even better. So why has he not done this? Perhaps he is looking for handouts and will not risk his own money by just doing it because he knows it is very doable right now, but not economically competitive. This is really about him looking for help to destroy one market so that he can create another because he can't compete with the existing players. If I'm wrong then just bloody well get on with it.

@simongross3122 You can make fuel from rubbish too, but if you are interesting in synthetic fuels from hydrogen and CO2 them read about the recent US Navy trials of a technology that just uses nuclear power and sea water, which has the CO2 dissolved in it. They successfully produced aviation fuel at sea using a prototype unit and are now working on the scale-up stage of the technology. Perhaps you, and others, should consider if your opinions are founded on ignorance rather than what you could know if only you did more reading in the STEM fields?
