  1. If the states had not gone down the path of lockdowns and other silliness, but followed the Swedish model, we would have not seen such a massive federal debt from dealing with the economic collateral damage of shutting down everything.

  2. That is blatant misinformation as interest rates are driven by the state of the US economy and supply/demand differentials on the global energy markets. Nobody in Australia controls that, they can just react to it. As for the debt, yeah it is insanely high, but without bailing out the states economies, because they unwisely went with long lockdowns, we would be in an even worse situation and as it is Victoria is in serious financial trouble anyway because they locked down the longest. D.A. went begging to the Chinese for cheap loans and got knocked back as Victoria is a very obvious credit risk.
