What has happened over the last few months makes me even more certain that the best thing I can do for my kids is to raise and educate them to be entrepreneurial, to be employers rather than employees as well as to develop business interests that are rock solid, so based on economic fundamentals, core goods and services. Look at what business types suffer more or less during such times then you get a better idea for what is a secure option. When it comes to arts and entertainment forget it, even if you really like it and have some talent, it isn't a real job for 99.99% of the people involved in those industries so the moment there is a downturn they are without a real income. All of the leisure, tourism, social and service industries that took people's discretionary expenditure have been smashed.

@TCFan30 Yeah, that was why I was careful to qualify the sort of business that is more secure. In good times you could make millions out of "Fart in a Jar" but not currently.
