If these people were 100% honest they would just get on with doing things the way they felt was right and not have their hand out for help even if it is just in the area of legislation or policy change to make their dream commercially viable, because that is cheating as much as sportsman taking steroids is. Don't think H2 from solar is a sure bet either, you could invest billions on one tech only to find it completely redundant 10 years down the track as compact aneutronic fusion reactors get commercialised. There are at least half a dozen wildcards in the energy production deck and once one of them is in play it will wipe out all of the other players due to the massive drop in energy costs that it triggers. Australia should exploit all of its fossil reserves as fast as possible while there is still some value in them because what Andrew Forrest thinks is good for him is not necessarily good for the rest of us over the next few decades. BTW When it comes to coal Western Australia has only 2% of Australia's Economic Demonstrated Resources, 96% of the useable coal in Australia is in NSW and QLD, and that shows you perhaps where Mr Forrest gets some of his bias.
