That is exactly what big centralised government is like, can't stop itself even if the train driver can see the bridge ahead has collapsed.

Yep, the entire idea is a dud. It will be as futile as all of the other versions of this technology, because it can't target new variants because of its narrowband specificity, all it will do is act like a filter for older variants and thereby accelerate the emergence of new variants. You can't vaccinate against an endemic RNA virus because it has such a high mutation rate. Research from the Milner Centre for Evolution at the University of Bath and The MRC Human Genetics Unit at Edinburgh University found new variants emerge on a weekly basis, therefore that drives the rate of genetic drift away from a match to the very specific antibodies induced by the RNA vaccine technology. This is very different from a natural immunity derived from all of the mutations that occur in your body during the course of an infection, a natural immunity is polyvalent. Harvesting blood from healthy volunteers who have had a recent infection would provide a far broader protection for those people with compromised immune systems who may rely on vaccines and that would also be safer for the community as it is those immunocompromised patients who suffer the infection for a protracted period of time and therefore are the greatest source of new variants of concern.
