Comments by "" (@DanielSMatthews) on "New data shows Australian bushfires could kill nearly 2,500 by end of decade" video.
Nothing to do with climate change. Notice the deliberate choice of starting the video with the fear trigger word? If people die in a fire it is because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and more often than not they took the wrong action or it was not well timed. It is pretty rare for someone to follow all of the cautionary advice about fire safety and still die. So it is not about fire, it is about you and your choices.

@Design_no Expert in not ending up dead, so far. Think you have what it takes to outlive me? It is my brother with the PhD in geophysics who knows about managing fires, but my point was literally that it isn't about fires, fool. BTW when was the last time you read a nonfiction book about any STEM related topic? Let me guess, never.

What makes you think that some of them were not involved in the arson themselves? Some of it (that is scientifically documented) appeared to have been done by people with a high level of knowledge of how to start a big fire. The border ranges fires in Queensland is a good example of that, an almost geometric pattern of ignition points over a large scale and no record of lighting strikes.

@j Yeah we used actual satellite thermal source data cross referenced with the lightinghing strike location database to spot the above mentioned anomaly in the first place. It is entirely possible that the fire source was airborne and used a laser or the sort of firebombs used in backburning operations, whatever method they used it was definitely preplanned and GPS guided. BTW Bureau of Meteorology records since the 1860s show that a 'severe' drought has occurred in Australia, on average, once every 18 years. So you will have to wait at least another decade for the next big drought in Australia.

@j Ban solid state industrial lasers? No point, people breaking the law deliberately will not be inconvenienced by that. Lightning is not detected with satellites, it is detected by the induced radio noise and recorded with a network of stations across the globe. The temperatures in Australia and not rising significantly, most measured change is in the northern hemisphere. A warmer Coral Sea surface temperature will drive more rain in SE QLD summer, not more fires. Spare me your ignorant and alarmist fantasising, it is all bullshit and a waste of my time.
