Do you honestly believe that any human is capable of doing the long term population-wide epidemiological calculations needed to understand what the short and long term costs/harms vs benefits of any given strategy are? If you say yes then you are either deluded or a liar, because such a task is beyond the very best we have in that field and the truth is we are all operating on faith and guesses of one form or an another, i.e. the science is not as solid as people suggest, due to the complexity of the issue.

  2.  David Lammy  They probably don't even know what all of the relevant variables are, so no it is probably not even something where a logical statement can be made about the nature of the problem. It is like trying to predict the weather, educated guessing and changing the goalposts every day to hide your incompetence at longer-term forecasting.

  3. Yep his understanding of such a strategy would be a complete disaster, but that does not exclude the possibility that others could be far more successful and managing such complexity.
