  1. We busted one big arson attack by comparing the lighting strike database with the thermal satellite data from Sentinel. There was a "clear as a bell" pattern of ignitions along one section of the border ranges between QLD and NSW in areas where people do not normally go, and where there had been no lighting. The other give-away was that the line of spot fires was at right angles to the prevailing winds and in gullies that were isolated from each other and spaced out evenly. It was clearly a sophisticated airborne arson attack that was preplanned using GPS coordinates for the insindary drops. The sort of thing that fire services do to seed a backburning operation, except there should not have been such an operation in that area at all and they never admitted to doing one.
