No proposal from Labor should be taken seriously unless they can show with solid figures why it would have a positive ROI, because they have a track record for being very good at spending money on ideas that just drive us further into debt regardless of their touted social benefit, and as all but fools know we need a strong and productive economy first so that we can then afford such luxuries. We are one trillion dollars in debt and have 8 trillion dollars of coal resource assets that labor's policies would destroy before we had a chance to sell them and clear that debt, then afford all of those social luxuries that are the hallmark of a wealthy society built upon a thriving economy. Extra debt solves nothing, it just pushes the problem into the future where it has the chance to fester and grow before we are forced to deal with it.
