  1. A short sharp lockdown the moment an outbreak is detected can work very well, but a strategy of rolling lockdowns (plural) does not work and does more harm than good. The problem is that that important distinction is not being publicly discussed at all, which is a shame because once you look at it from that elevated perspective the entire argument fades away in the face of the obvious as there is no confusion as to what people are arguing about.
