Perhaps if she was blond she'd have had a knight step up to rescue her? i.e. Could have been a case of covert racism, you have to consider it if you are going to be so silly as to speculate at all about the decision making processes of each and every person that was there.

@VanillaPolsley I'm not say'n you'd be like that, obviously you'd just step in a bash that crack head senseless, because that would be a joyous experience for you, but some people if they are sitting on the fence will hold back if they are expected to help some people vs others.
