Public servants, including MPs, should not have anything installed on their phones that has not been fully audited and even then it needs to be locked down otherwise it is just an overnight upgrade away from having new unforeseen and malicious capabilities. I'm not sure if there are any MPs at the federal level that have a background in IT, that is how clueless and vulnerable they all are.

It doesn't need your info online, just its checksums, because when you present your credentials they are converted to a checksum that has to match the original one, but if you have the checksum it is not possible to calculate what the original personal information was that generated it, it is a one-way mathematical process.
