There is no reason to be sure about that, go and look up the term "endemic". Until human vulnerability to infection with this virus strain is addressed it may continue to circulate and reduce average human lifespans down to about 70 years of age. There are ways to stop it though, some are less invasive than others. The fastest and riskiest (which I do not advocate for!) is to take COVID-19 and remove the gene for the accessory proteins that allow it to be so dangerous, then release the weakened strain into the community as isolation measures are reduced. @kurt-john7109 What if they release an attenuated virus as a form of immunisation to build up herd immunity without causing so many casualties? Do you trust governments to not do that? I imagine that the Chinese would have no qualms at all about such measures if they felt it was going to give them an advantage.

@vgwalldecals There is absolutely no proof of your claim. It is the medical staff who pronounce a person dead, if that is due to a cardiac arrest as a result of viral damage to to the lungs that causes low oxygen levels then it is indeed a death caused by the virus.
