I totally disagree. I think it's 100% inherently bad. Not one good thing comes from pornography. I think the same about alcohol. The world would be a better place without either.

They scratched the surface. It easily could and should have been an hour. Productive conversation.

He's the most honest one. He knows the true danger of porn.

I never would have guessed it's a woman now.

The only difference is pornography is inherently bad. Any porn is destructive. Nothing good comes from pornography unlike work or the other things you mentioned.

@wiki7 and therein lies the problem. Learning to control ourselves. Most people simply can't. It's evil all around. Anything that's addictive by nature should be avoided.
2
@wiki7 Haha. Well i don't want to say I'm right. But just my opinion. I just see alcohol as rampant in the world and not a good thing. But I see where you're comin from. It's an interesting thing. I'm not perfect so I probably have no right to talk about it but just my thoughts.

@giowhy4324 I guess that could be true. But if so, then you must feel the same about pornography. If too much of anything can be harmful then too much of pornography is definitely harmful. How many problems have come from someone eating too many oranges? You're really going to compare oranges to pornography? Who's going to go to an AA meeting for eating oranges?

@thomasf.9717 yes I would be surprised by that

my last girlfriend told me she started watching at 8. I was pretty shocked. It definitely affected her sexuality too. She was an awesome person and came from a good family. But I think it made an impact on our relationship.

@qualifiedarmchaircritic it's heartbreaking because pornography is destructive in every way. Pornography produces nothing of value or decency. Exposing children to something so corrosive is like letting them smoke or drink. Children deserve better. Adults deserve better for that matter. But children especially because someone has responsibility for their upbringing.

Why is everyone from Sweden basically a model?
1
@racquelthorpe9694 it basically is cheating though. That's why it affects relationships so much.

@bloodydove5718 Matthew 5:28: whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery already in his heart. For you kids out there who don't know, adultery is another word for cheating. Think about it. You do the math.

Because you're addicted

@cadence1087 If we're talking religiously, as far as I understand, there's no indication in the Bible about alcohol except that's it should not be partaken of. I guess the Bible is a little open to interpretation but I think it states pretty clearly in so many words that drinking is not good, similar to how it clearly teaches against homosexuality. So I'm not sure I agree with that argument. Also as far as I'm concerned anything that has the potential for addiction and serious damage to so many aspects of life should be avoided. I think I'd rather err on the side of caution. You could argue the same thing about a lot of "bad" things. You could say it's ok to lie and cheat here and there as long as nothing too bad happens from it. You could say cocaine is ok as long as it doesn't get out of hand. Anything could get out of hand at any time for anyone though. For me personally I think it's so much smarter to be more careful than less. Porn and alcohol fall into those categories. The more you do, the worse it becomes. So the more you can avoid, the better it is. It's like debt. The more you avoid it the better off you'll be. Or like gambling. Some people like to take more risks than others, and the more you take, the more likely you'll get burned.

@melov4 pornography isolates you from other people. It's always done in private. Instead of bringing you closer to others and strengthening relationships, it pulls you apart. Sexual relations connect two people in love and unity. You share something powerful together. It binds you together. You give something to the other person. That stress and anxiety relief is real and good. And that has an appropriate outlet (ideally in marriage but at least in a committed relationship). Pornography is the counterfeit to that. The full joy of the sexual experience can be found between two people. Pornography tries to imitate that joy but instead leaves you empty and alone. It's basically wrong time wrong place kind of thing. That's just one reason against pornography, not mention addiction, warped views of sex and people, and the effects on those who make it, etc etc. The list goes on.

@ethanmueller1016 I could name 50 things wrong w alcohol off the top of my head. I hope you're joking.
1
@giowhy4324 No. There are definitely substances and behaviors that are objectively addictive in nature. Pornography falls in that category. How many people are addicted to oranges and what negative effect does it have on them? No harm comes from too many oranges. The damage of the addiction matters.

I think he truly understands the situation more realistically than the others. More experience and wisdom.
