I'm downvoting because rioting and looting and tearing down statues and violence is wrong. Period.

@aawiyahh tearing down statues is wrong. Period. It's not their property. If they think they should be taken down, take it to the city for a vote. Do it peacefully and democratically. This country was built. Period. These morons are destroying something that they didn't build and they have no right to destroy. You clearly don't understand or appreciate the history of this country. Yes it's messy. Yes the men weren't perfect. But at least you have a country to live in with particular freedoms. Crap like this leads to civil wars and worse. A complete misunderstanding of history. If they want to protest, great. Rioting and looting and burning and defacing public and private property is wrong. Always.

@ronisila3040 no one did say any of those things are ok. They don't have to. Actions speak louder than words. They're literally fighting violence with violence. You can't put out a fire with fire. Doesn't happen. Who else has rioted, looted, burned buildings and destroyed public property besides BLM? BLM is responsible. They condone it. They encourage it. They defend it. And that's wrong.

@aawiyahh it's a complete misunderstanding of history to think your life in any way resembles the life of any person from any race from the 1800s. Two completely different situations. And although I'm sure it's not perfect, it's unfathomable to compare your life and conditions today to anyone living 150 years ago. Not even close. No matter what happens to you, you're not a slave owned by a white person working on a farm. You're not. Are you?

@LuZu_ How is the country today the same as the "selfish, oppressive" country created in 1776? What things happened then that are still happening now? The country you're complaining and whining about is the country that offers you every opportunity to do everything you do every day. This country allows you the freedom to comment on youtube, saying anything you want without repercussion. This country allows you to educate yourself, providing for yourself and your family, working and owning land, living where you want and doing what you want. This country allows you the freedom to protest against police injustices and brutality. BLM literally is trying to take those freedoms away by tearing down the structure itself. You tear down the institution of America and no longer can you protest against any injustices. Suddenly you're subject to real injustice and oppression. Suddenly you have no rights whatsoever. Suddenly no one comes to your aid when something bad actually does happen. Is that what you want? That's what BLM wants. If you want to go live in a communist country with no rights and freedoms, with someone dictating what you do for work, dictating your religion, and dictating how you live, who you talk to and who you marry, then go for it. But don't make America that country by tearing down its foundation.

@richardyoung9110 I don't agree with any of the terrible things you mentioned happened in history. Of course it's all wrong But those things don't happen now. How many slaves do you know? How many slave holders do you know? Occasionally bad things happen to black people. But to claim things are the same today for blacks as they were pre civil war is a complete misunderstanding of history and really a total a slap in the face to the country. There's no other way to say it. It is. The problem with BLM is it basically has nothing to do with black lives. It's turned into an anti american movement. It's completely unhinged in its purpose wanting to tear down the entire founding of the country. That is lack of understanding of America, the founding, and history at large. These people have no idea what they're doing or talking about. There are plenty of black people saying this too.

In response to your edit #2: So you want to hear what people think until they say something you don't agree with? Grow a pair and keep your comment up. That's called debate. That's called freedom of speech. Don't censor others because you feel a little threatened or uncomfortable. That's the whole point of talking and discussing. There's nothing violent about words. BLM shows who the real violent people are. They're showing their true colors. You don't need to silence others just because you disagree. You asked a good question and got good responses. You don't need to feel ashamed about that.

@SunnyGee-jd6pb So... Your solution is what? Tear down the country? You don't want America to be America? You wish you didn't exist? You don't like being American? You think America should never have happened? You want the world to stay undeveloped and have America inhabited by the original native Americans and no one else? You wouldn't be American. You realize that? You probably wouldn't exist. You're trying to change the history of the world because people explored, discovered and developed. You're really arguing against that? I just don't get your purpose in that. How does this end?
