@Baykko I know a guy who was a professional actor on TV for a while. I once asked him if playing a character can alter your personality to the extent that you feel you are becoming them to a degree. he said "oh yes, definitely" without a second thought. He later had booze issues and suffered from serious depression. He quit acting and has never gone back...................

Sadly, it's the one piece of really weak writing in the film. The heat from the fire on Dent's face would have scorched his lungs so respiration would have failed and he'd have died.
